Anderson vII pg510 - letter #542

Most Excellent and Quite Amazing Lieutenant General!

I still need a few other scores, such as, for instance, those of the symphony in A [Opus 92], the string quartet in F minor [Opus 95] and the trio for voices [Opus 116] – You can have all these back on Monday together with the other two scores.  Some foreigners have turned up here; and I can’t refuse to let them see some of my recent compositions.  In any case I trust that you are not looking for some pretext on my part where none exists – At about three o’clock this afternoon I will send for the scores I have mentioned above ! ! !  All good wishes, never, never fading and most immortal L[ieutenant] G[eneral],
                                                                    Your Generalissimo
